Financial Disclaimer

Effective October 19, 2026

Financial Companion is software for organizing and analyzing your own financial information. It is for informational and educational purposes only and is not financial, investment, tax, accounting or legal advice. This disclaimer is part of the Terms of Use.

No professional relationship

Neither the Operator nor the Service is a bank, credit union, broker-dealer, registered investment adviser, financial planner, certified public accountant, tax preparer or attorney. Using the Service does not create an advisory, fiduciary or client relationship. Consult a qualified, licensed professional about your circumstances before making financial, investment, tax or legal decisions.

Investment research, grades and alerts

  • Stock and ETF research, decision grades, technical indicators (such as RSI and moving averages), watchlist alerts, news sentiment, “Smart Money” institutional-filing data, IPO analysis and research reports are general information produced automatically from public and third-party sources. They are not recommendations to buy, sell or hold any security and do not consider your objectives, financial situation or risk tolerance.
  • Grades and other model outputs are experimental and have not been validated as predictive. Where evidence is insufficient the Service says so, but any output may still be wrong.
  • Institutional and insider filings are reported with delays and may not reflect current positions. Following a manager’s disclosed holdings is not a reliable strategy.
  • Investing involves risk, including the possible loss of principal. Past performance does not guarantee future results.
  • Paper portfolios and option practice are simulations. They place no real orders, ignore many real-world costs and constraints, and simulated results do not predict actual results.

Market data

Prices, quotes, news and filings come from third-party providers and may be delayed, incomplete or inaccurate. Do not rely on them for trading decisions. Verify information with your broker or the original source, such as the SEC’s EDGAR system.

Tax and property features

Tax categories, Schedule E line suggestions, capital-versus-repair flags, depreciation figures, property profit and loss statements and exported reports are organizational aids, not tax advice or tax returns. Tax rules depend on your situation and change over time; have a tax professional review anything you file.

Budgets, forecasts and debt plans

Budgets, spending pace, cash-flow forecasts, bill and recurring-charge detection, payoff dates and interest estimates are calculated from the data in your account and simple assumptions. They can be wrong if data is missing, miscategorized or out of date, or if circumstances change.

AI-generated content

AI features use large language models that can produce confident-sounding but incorrect, incomplete or outdated information, including misread receipts and wrong categories. AI answers are not reviewed by a human before you see them. Check AI output against your records and confirm proposed changes yourself.

Account data

Balances and transactions retrieved through Plaid, SimpleFIN, imports or email may be delayed or incomplete. Your financial institution’s statements are the authoritative record of your accounts.

Your responsibility

You are solely responsible for decisions you make using the Service. To the extent permitted by law, the Operator is not liable for any loss arising from reliance on information provided by the Service, as set out in the Terms of Use.
