About Financial Companion
Financial Companion is a private, self-hosted app for managing personal and household finances, rental properties and investments in one place. This site is operated by its owner for invited users. It carries no advertising and does not sell your data.
What it does
- Everyday money: accounts, transactions, rules and splits, monthly budgets, planned expenses, recurring bills and a daily spending planner.
- Debt: payoff plans, extra payments and projected payoff dates.
- Rental properties: units, leases, rent tracking, expenses, documents and co-owner sharing.
- Investments: holdings, watchlists, research reports, alerts and paper portfolios for practice.
- Households: share access with a partner, with view-only or joint-manager access.
- Optional AI assistance: questions about your finances, receipt reading and categorization suggestions, using an AI provider chosen by the Operator.
How your data is handled
- Bank connections are read-only. The app cannot move money or place trades.
- Your bank password is entered with Plaid or SimpleFIN, never with this site.
- Credentials and connection tokens are encrypted at rest, and two-factor authentication is available.
- You can export your data or delete your account at any time from Settings.
Read the Privacy Policy for the details, the Terms of Use for the rules, and the Financial Disclaimer for what the app’s figures and suggestions are, and are not.
